I met up with a cherished uni friend last night and as we don’t get to see each other very often we decided to treat ourselves to a posh dinner at The Ivy City Garden. We had a fab evening filled with howling laughter as we recalled stand out moments (some probably best forgotten!) from our three years of fun and occasional essay writing. Between the memories we talked about new houses, new jobs and plans for the future- all rather serious but equally as exciting. At the end of the evening he remarked “can you believe I asked you how to microwave a baking potato during our first week of uni and now here we are eating seared yellow fin tuna and talking about mortgage repayments”. We suddenly realised we were grownups…oh god! On the train home I got on to thinking about what I had to show for being an adult, I mean I’m pretty proud of this year’s bricks and mortar, but I also thought about how I had marked particular milestones with sartorial purchases, for instance, when I got my graduate job I invested in a dress and tailored black trousers from Whistles, both of which I still live in. For my first official working day my mum treated me to a leather leopard print bag from & Other Stories and it remains a favoured every- day go to. When I landed the dream job of serving the angels of WSd I treated myself to a Scotch & Soda long sleeved Breton top that has been washed a billion times yet still looks brand new. Anyway, my point is that when it comes to being a grown up it’s about making good choices (seared tuna is one of them) and whilst at WSd we know nothing about investing in stocks and shares, we do know about one-off investment pieces to set the foundations for a solid wardrobe. So, in this week’s blog we’re showcasing the dreamy new pieces from Mos Mosh that will set you up on a path towards a chic and timeless closet…

As the cocktails, sunsets and salads filling our Instagram feeds begin to slowly be replaced with shots of burning candles, falling leaves and cosy nights in watching Strictly, it officially becomes time for the cosy knit. The Ava cable-knit is a perfect A/W building block and makes as much of a statement with denim as it does with tailoring. Cut in a relaxed oversized silhouette, this beauty will envelop you with warming comfort and help ease you into cooler climes. To add a polished finish to your look team with the Mos Mosh Levron Holly pant, showstopper earrings from Lotus Jewellery and a pair of dreamy Air & Grace kicks.

We’ve already showcased the perfect pairing of the Levron Holly pant with the Ava knit, yet be still your beating tailoring loving heart, as the Blake Holly blazer is also a thing. Mos Mosh is our go to for premium fabrics and perfect fits and the Holly combo will prove its worth as your best ally. The grey check two-piece is not only seriously chic but can be re-worked in so many different ways, either as a set or each beauty in its own right. Style the Holly pants with box fresh kicks and a crisp white tee for weekend mimosa sipping and avocado on toast devouring. What could be better than tailoring that’s as playful as it is powerful and works just as well in the boardroom as it does for brunching.

Tailored pieces are a refreshing alternative for moments when jeans aren’t your jam. Banish thoughts that precision-cut trousers are for formal occasions only by teaming yours with effortless companions such as a basic tee, casual kicks and a beloved leather jacket for an oh so cool androgynous vibe. To get the look reach for the Mos Mosh Gerry Twiggy trousers which offer a lesson in spot on tailoring thanks to a clean cut with a hint of stretch for comfort. Or for a dash of sport luxe how about the Mos Mosh Sandi Trousers with their wide-leg silhouette and minimalist ice blue stripe? Either way, only a pair of Air & Grace Copeland Navy Glitter kicks will do.
